Solmax faced significant challenges because their data was fragmented across multiple ERP systems, including Microsoft Dynamics and SAP. This fragmentation made reporting cumbersome and slowed down decision-making. Without a single, centralized view of their data, teams in financial services, sales, procurement, and operations struggled to reliably track critical business metrics in real-time. These issues didn’t just create internal inefficiencies—they also limited their agility in responding quickly to market changes.
On top of this, Solmax found that their manual data processes were time-consuming, prone to errors, and prevented them from gaining clear, actionable insights into their overall business performance.
Solution
To address these challenges, we implemented a comprehensive data management solution, focusing on four key objectives:
- Centralizing KPI Tracking: Implementing a centralized system that allowed precise tracking of key performance indicators, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Data Consolidation: Integrating disparate data sources—including Microsoft Dynamics and SAP—into a unified data warehouse. This provided a single source of truth, significantly enhancing data reliability and accessibility.
- Interactive Dashboards: Deploying Power BI dashboards tailored to Solmax’s strategic and operational needs, enabling real-time visualization of data and empowering informed decision-making across various teams.
- Data Quality Assurance: Rigorous data modeling, testing, and validation ensured that the information used for strategic decisions accurately reflected the operational realities.
Technology played a crucial role in this project’s success. We leveraged data coming from robust enterprise software, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SAP To smoothly bring data together from these separate systems, we used Azure Data Factory to coordinate data flows, while tools like DBT and SQL helped us transform raw data into meaningful insights.
We centralized all this integrated information in scalable, cloud-based storage solutions—Snowflake and Azure Blob Storage—which gave Solmax a single, reliable source of truth. To make sense of this data and bring insights directly to decision-makers, we created interactive, real-time dashboards using Power BI. These dashboards offered clear, intuitive views of performance, enabling Solmax teams to quickly and confidently respond to business needs.
While industry estimates suggest that up to 80% of business data is unstructured, Solmax faced its own share of this challenge. To address it, we proposed a proof of concept using Large Language Model (LLM) technology to help classify and organize the unstructured data that existed across the organization.
By applying AI to previously untapped sources — from documents to reports to freeform text — we were able to surface hidden insights and bring clarity to data that had long been overlooked. In a world where the majority of data is unstructured, finding ways to understand and leverage it is no longer optional — it’s essential.
Outcome
Our digital transformation initiative delivered significant immediate and long-term benefits for Solmax:
- Enhanced Data Integrity and Accessibility: Solmax now benefits from centralized, accurate, and easily accessible data, eliminating previous inefficiencies and inaccuracies.
- Improved Decision-Making: Real-time dashboards offer clear insights into operational performance, enabling rapid response to changes in market conditions and internal dynamics.
- Operational Efficiency and Cost Savings: Automation and streamlined data processes significantly reduced manual tasks and errors, resulting in tangible cost savings and efficiency gains.
- Improved Collaboration and Agility: Centralized data promoted better inter-departmental collaboration, enabling teams to work more cohesively and respond quickly to operational challenges.
- Enhanced Customer Service: Faster and more precise data analysis improved Solmax’s ability to meet customer needs promptly and effectively.
- Strengthened Security and Risk Management: Consolidated data management increased control, security, and reduced operational risks.
- Environmental and Social Responsibility: Transitioning to digital data management reduced reliance on paper documents and supported better-informed, environmentally conscious decisions.
These changes are more than technical upgrades. They have reshaped how Solmax approaches decision-making, collaboration, and growth. With a modern, integrated data foundation, teams no longer waste time hunting for information or second-guessing reports. Instead, they can focus on solving problems, spotting opportunities, and acting quickly. This shift improves day-to-day efficiency and builds long-term resilience — both essential to keeping Solmax competitive and future-ready.
